“Epidurals, which can cause a woman in labor to run a fever, increase the risk of giving birth to a child with a type of brain damage called encephalopathy. The fever is often a sign of inflammation and it may play a role in some birth defects that harm the brain,” as taken from the 2001 edition of The British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology; 108; 594-597.“Epidurals, which can cause a woman in labor to run a fever, increase the risk of giving birth to a child with a type of brain damage called encephalopathy. The fever is often a sign of inflammation and it may play a role in some birth defects that harm the brain,” as taken from the 2001 edition of The British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology; 108; 594-597.

Epidurals, which help ease the pain of child birth, aren’t something that’s mandatory but in many cases, expecting mothers reported to have said that the nurses or doctors were very aggressive about insisting that the mother receive it.

Although hospital officials do mention some of the side effects of the pain reliever before it is administered, it’s very doubtful that information like the aforementioned is discussed with the patient.

In fact, in the 1987 edition of the Medical Journal of Australia, 146, pages 481-486 and the 1995 edition of the International Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia 4, pages 178-179, both mention that drugs administered by epidurals not only immediately enters the mother’s bloodstream, but the baby as well and in some cases to a greater degree which go straight to the baby’s brain.

In the 1998 paper “The Effects on Breastfeeding by Women of Anesthetic Medications Used during Labor,” it was mentioned that some of those drugs are taken up directly into the baby’s brain.

Information such as the 3 previously mentioned research items would make anyone that read them begin to question the origins of brain disorders such as ADHD, Bipolar Syndrome and Autism with a more analytical mind.

In the 1999 periodical, Biological Psychiatry; 45 No. 2, pages 145-147, the article entitled “Vasopressin and Autism: Is There a Connection”, researchers indicated that the malfunction of the oxytocin system has been observed in autistic patients.

One of the drugs that have been associated with oxytocin production shut down is a synthetic version called syntocinon. This particular drug is given to help stimulate or speed up labor because epidurals have been known to slow down or even stop the birthing process; this according to a 2002 paper entitled “Plasma Oxytocin Levels in Women During Labor With or Without Epidural Analgesia: A Prospective Study.”

With all of the previously mentioned side effects to the unborn baby and much more not mentioned, perhaps the society should focus on whether or not epidurals are at the root of the rise in autism, ADHD and other types of neurological brain disorders effecting children instead of vaccines.

One thing that is for sure is that the internet allows expecting mothers to obtain valuable information from millions of medical and scientific scholars throughout the world on subjects pertaining to her and her unborn baby, that either her physician doesn’t know, forgot to tell her or didn’t want her to know.
